    Stage 4 – Attending Appointments

As we pass the half way mark of stage 4 restrictions, we know that some people are still expressing concerns with regards to attending appointments. Our goal at Malvern East Physiotherapy is to continue to provide best practice care while also following Government advice to minimise movement within our community. This means providing our current and new patients with increased access to our Telehealth consultations.

While the clinic remains essential in providing face-to-face assessments and clinical care, we are offering all existing and new patients Telehealth consultations as part of our Covid Safe Plan. This means that all patients who can be provided with appropriate care via online tools will be doing so. This will be determined by Physiotherapy staff members during consultation time.

We are considering each individual’s presentation and clinical care requirements on a case by case circumstance. We are not following a ‘one model fits all’ to determine ongoing care for our patients. During all initial and follow up assessments, our Physiotherapy staff will be discussing our Telehealth consultations options. It may be that some presentations are able to be managed remotely from day one. Others may require hands on intervention in the early stages, and then can progress to Telehealth once their painful symptoms are under control.

This will not always be appropriate for acute pain presentations and the management of those experiencing functional decline. Where we continue to require clinic attendance for best practice care, we have put in additional measures on site to minimize numbers and mitigate risk. We have a number of screening questions that our reception team will be asking, and are reducing bookings in our clinical exercise areas to ensure appropriate social distancing.

We are all working hard to stay up to date with the ever-changing situation while continuing to provide quality care to our patients. If you or your family have any concerns regarding attending the clinic, please reach out to one of our staff members will would be happy to discuss this further.

In the meantime, we hope you are all staying active and injury free!
